Very low volume whiring noise

Noticed on my car that when I press the throttle, there is a very slight whiring noise inside the car, at the front.

At first I thought it might be one of the ventilation fans, so I turned the air off.

When stationary, just giving light revs you can hear it, then releasing the throttle it stops.

It sounds like its coming from the front centre speaker (I assume that is a speaker in there?).

Did someone say these cars have an electronic exhaust noise? I wonder if its this? If so, it sounds crap! Anyone else noticed it?

I get the same too. At first I thought it was tinnitus..!

But i believe it is something to do with the injectors on these engines as the noise seems to get louder when you feather the throttle (until the engine noise becomes louder)

Glad I'm not going deaf

The noise I get doesn't get louder with revs. The turbo whine is more noticeable when driving, but this is present when stationary.

I noticed this the other day on mine whenthe radio was very quiet.

I think it might be the fuel pump as it does change when you back off the throttle on a run but is always present at idle.

Solution was to turn the radio up!

No, it stops when I take my foot off the throttle, or shortly afterwards!!! Again, only noticeable at slow speeds in traffic with no radio etc.

Mine has the same noise but will do it on tickover, foot off the throttle, usually does it if its not been used for a while, if i take it out the next day it wont do it, leave it for a few days and the wirring noise is back.
not to worried at this stage.

Could be you are noticing the electronic sound generator.

There is only a speaker in the dash if you have one of the audio upgrades.

Are you feeling left out :poke:

Tim.

Perhaps.. I've always wanted a whirring in my dash, but I'd never hear it for the roaring exhaust note! :fuelfire:

Thats what I was wondering if it was, and seeking confirmation. I have the pro sound upgrade. It does sound generated, rather than mechanical, if that makes sense.

Hey, Me too!!
You can say that, cos I don't want or need that much power, so I'm not bothered.

ok....you got me there!

I might have just reconciled myself with the fact I didn't go for any sound upgrade...no center speaker no whirring sound generated and delivered directly at my head.

The E85 does it too. I convinced myself its the fuel pump, as both Z4's i've owned had this noise.
