Very Cheap Z4....why ?

As had been said many times "If it's too cheap walk away". Surely at that price there is something wrong somewhere. Nice level of kit though (although while beige leather is nice, the full beige interior looks at tad ott).
 
Well interestingly, the general view on the valuations sites seems to be mid £7k's, and its unusual for a dealer to use the term 'good condition' except on an old dog, so maybe the photos don't tell the whole story.....as you say, could be a damaged/repaired and they are holding back...! or maybe traded it and made a killing on whatever went out and just want their money back quick....

and check their website, its the newest car they've got in stock!
 
Being nosey (and distressed at having paid a lot more for mine 12 months ago) I made a call to the dealer, he's a bit vague about the car, it's got no history with it other than a couple of old MOTs, and has had quote "a little front end accident, only a bumper and wing I think, but it drives great".

Cheap for sure, but eyes wide open on this one :!: Pay for a history check, contact the previous keeper, check the engine & VIN numbers against the book, MOT & the results of the history check (docs get forged), check history with BMW. Get it inspected if you are not an expert and walk if you get resistance, bull, or don't get all the answers :!:
 
Lot of car for the money. Sat nav nice colour and interior combo. One headlight certainly leaking and a dealer without premises, just his drive.

Def. one as noted above to check everything and if you're not an expert on assessing it leave it alone.

Someone should be able to turn a £1,000 profit on that assuming not a Cat. car, or get into 6 cyl Zeds on the cheap
 
It's cheap but doesn't seem 'too good to be true' cheap from the advert.

- 53 plate (almost as old as they get)
- Boring colour
- Small(er) wheels
- No service history
- Nasty interior
- No options listed (other than the leather) EDIT: i missed nav/heated seats
- headlight steamed up

But now it appears to have been pranged so RUN AWAY!

I agree with CJ on this one. Not everyone can afford (or wants to spend the money) on a showroom condition car or one that has been priced up just because of the name of the dealership. Providing cars like this are checked thoroughly by a professional and the standard background checks a run and cleared, they should be ok and could even turn out to be a very good purchase and introduction to the Z4.
 
I agree that this looks rough- but if it checks out ok on a rac inspection then its a cheap way in 4 a weekend car. Not for ne tho

I agree, cars like this can be OK. Years ago I bought a repaired MR2 for about 30% below market, it was pristine and never missed a beat, there was no way I could have afforded it otherwise and I didn't lose a penny after 18 months.

However given the cost of routine problems on Z4s of this age like springs, window regulators, steamed lights, roof motors etc, if I only had £5k to spend on a proper sports I would probably go for an s2000 which is bullet proof and just about tops used car reliability surveys (I'm not sure if it's true but it was said that there had never been a failure of a Honda VTEC variable valve timing unit).
 
BMW rates are high- I still service and warrant mine through them- but at 5k u could take it to a good Indy and be no worse off than if u took an s2k
