As stated above. With all the threads on prices of cars for sale and the big difference between them - I read your comment as fishing to get a reaction about prices again is all.

Read above post... and don't be so bloody touchy...

Posted at the same time but you worked out what I meant with what you typed. No touchyness here amigo - read as a :poke:

Hmm, sure - I think we will leave it there...

It does seem that some owners are very touchy when prices are discussed on the forum, namely on the same model they own

I think it was StevenH72? when he was looking to buy his M he was cut down by a few members for being too negative on his thoughts on the market prices for the M. Although I don't think he has mentioned prices in the same light since he acquired his car.

Getting back on point - My above comment is that a prospective buyer see's a car being sold for £13k, while other same spec'd cars with similar or higher mileage are advertised for 3k - 4k more - Surely would-be buyers would be looking to purchase the cheaper car, or at least haggle the more expensive cars down?

.

Ooh that's me.. :D

I don't remember exactly what you are referring to (not to say it didn't happen, I get cut down so often it's hard to keep track), but when I was looking to buy, obviously I was trying to get a good grip as to prices. I spent 18 months lurking around the market so feel I probably have a better idea as to ///MC prices than many members on here.

Most //MC's with similar spec to the one mentioned in OP would sell for £15.5 - £16k (Phil's Midnight blue with 62k on the clock sold last week for £13.6k for a comparison and Woody's 67k Imola example sold a few months back for £13k...I don't know of many cheaper ///MC's).

I agree (in part) with Ranski's assertion, however I think one anomoly will not be enough to skew the "perceived" market values. If however, a few more cars pop up at a similar price it would obviously start to impact market values.

Personally I am pessimistically suspicious of the OP ///MC. It seems odd that any seller would price their car £3-4k lower than similar cars. I have no specific reason to be suspicious, but if I was a buyer for this car I'd tread very carefully and take extra precaution with pre-purchase inspections etc.

As I said, if something looks too good to be true, it probably is.

There is always trouble when M prices are discussed!!

There is a similar tread at the moment about 3.0l and no one bats an eye lid.....

I suppose mine (if/when I come to sell it) will become the benchmark bottom-book price as it'll have well over 100k on it (although only 3 owners, and only 1 from 10k onwards)

Probably not get more than £10k for it - which then means it's probably not worth selling :P

"HPI Clear"

Blimey that's cheap.
And in the colour the OH wanted.
And with the Spec the OH wanted.
And it's just round the corner.

<wanders off to think of ways to justify 2 ///MCs>

Don't sell it!!!

It cheap, but needs to be seen..

It was like the other one in Wales that was £11k.... Cheap on the face of it but tatty, unloved and in need of work when viewed..

Its cheap for a reason, that reason just needs to be found.like has been mentioned, in the current market there is little for sale below £14k.... So why go in so low?

But, cars are getting cheaper and the Z4 in all its forms is no exeption..

Bang on I say

I always have a wee look at M prices, and particularity look forward to those desperate winter bargains

My view as a buyer would be simply....

At sale prices not the advertised prices on Z4MC's

10kish = 100k miles or poor bodywork etc

13kish - Cars with 55k-70k

15kish - Sub 40K miles

The cost per mile on deprecation is pretty harsh, and if you have poverty spec god help you regardless of miles

Anyone thinking there going to get 16k for a M coupe with 55k on the clock is in dream land (will always been some random exception), someone with 35k and good spec then yeah.... that's just IMO of course , could be talking cobblers :)

I think the roadster prices will be interesting in a few months , reckon some 10k bargains will be knocking around as ever , the coupes tend to be a little more resilient... but that's another tread in itself

Already the bargain if the summer with the 10k roadster being sold in the sale section..

How that didn't sell at 10k is beyond me !
