I may have you mistaken for someone else here but, did you say you lease your Z? I'm just curious because you really like mods and seem quite knowledgeable about them. Can you do all those mods to a leased Z? I guess you'd just take the mods you can off before trade-in :idunno: ..I was just curious :)

- like you mentioned.... just keep the OE parts.
 
So does that mean you have to return it to OEM before returning? Answer above was just a little vague..

...yea, like can you return it with any mods that are somewhat permanent, like those that may leave marks if removed..or how does that work? Are you penalized for removed mods that don't leave the car in original condition? Seems like if you modded a lot, it'd be a real PIA to un-mod certain things. But I know some are into all that.
 
IDK what would be permanent???

For things like my painted reflectors, I still have the originals to pop back in.
The basics would definitely have to return to OE, like springs.
Simple cosmetics (e.g. black out grill) not really an issue.
 
OK, I don't know a lot about mods [and nothing about leases] so I wasn't sure if some things might leave a mark after removal. I guess you'd do them to leases that were more long term, to make it worth your effort? :idunno: , I was just interested.
 
I am leasing too because I do not want to keep the car. I have not bothered with mods and neither will I. I will just modify the car in 2009. Right now I am of the mind the I will get rid of both my cars and either modify to an ML63 AMG or an X5M (if they ever make one).
 
If you lease a car, you should do bolt on only mods and keep your originals. Actually, even if you don't lease your car that's what you should do. Any mods to a car detract from it's resale value. So lease or not, the dealer will try to deduct the difference from you.

Yeah... absolutely.
Returning to stock form is by far the best way to move out of a car, leased or purchased.

So, the Audi is out of the equation now?

- I won't be keeping my roady either, residual will be far higher than market value.
If the current market situation continues, might look at picking up a lightly used M coupe in the USA for a play car that I can track a bit.
That way I can swap over some of my mods.
& then pick up a DD for every day.
 
inTgr8r, yeah. I do not think I will go for an RS5 (even if they make them). I think an "AMG" or "M" SUV is the the best car for what I have in mind. We really do not have the mountain roads that I would want a 2-seater or a 2+2. Then we have to 50kph over the limit thing. I like the fact that the ML63 AMG is as quick if not quicker than my Z4M in a straight ling on a ramp.
 
Even though you already have some answers I'll give you mine anyway since my name was in the title and all. The first thing i'll say is, my husband and I have decided that we will probably not be buying a car again for a lonnng time. We like to change cars with the seasons so the best bang for our buck is swapalease.com - for the people turning up their noses right now, I have my M for $437/mo for 23 mo's and will be getting my $3000 deposit back at the end of the lease (because I keep the car ocd spotless).

Let me pause here to say that my husband is sitting here watching 'how its made' wearing a helmet that he ordered for his ski trip that's coming up. He looks lie Special Ed from crank yankers. LOL

Anyway, FNI, look there if you're going to lease. Let someone else put the money down and do the negotiating. :wink: I have talked to dealers about what you're asking about and the general answer I get is, "it depends on the dealer." Some dealers are more picky about your mods than others. The dealer is not going to harass you over the reflectors or blacking out your grille or any of that stuff. I don't think they would be happy if you switched out your engine, strapped a tin can on the back of the car, switched out your seats for some racing seats, and slapped a carbon fiber like hood on, after had it repainted with some tribal designs down the sides. :rofl:
