Right, how the hell do you remove the vents, i have followed the instructions/ comments posted and i cannot see how you can access something that doesnt project down ?......it looks so simple on the printed instructions but i am close to tearing the dashboard out :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

I can see the square recessed hole but can only push the metal through the hole, is it not that i am pulling enough at the same time ?.......or do i pull the clips down towards me, if that the case, how when it doesnt project through enough ?

any tips would save me putting a great big hole through the vents with a sledge hammer  , or alternatively setting fire to the dam thing :fuelfire:

Many of us have suffered doing the vent removal; others say it was so simple a child could do it. I tried it, off and on, giving up several times for 2 weeks. Make sure you are working with the correct holes. Actually there are two places that look like a place for the clips to be accessed. The ones you want are just after the lip of the vent on the top side. You should see metal through the holes. Make sure you have good lighting and can see what you are doing. You will need a thin tool of some kind. Guys have used a knife or thin screwdriver to pull the clips down. I used a scribing tool that had a thin curved end on it. If you are serious about getting the vent out, do not worry about using too much force. Just get the clips down and do not worry about bending or breaking them. You will not need them again and I in fact took mine off and the vent stays in place just fine. The action you are looking for is like this and I hope I can describe it to you enough. You would put a tool straight up in the hole. Then tilt it back toward you and you should feel it pulling the clip down. You should feel the clip starting down, if not you have not gone far enough up in the hole to catch the edge of the clip to pull it down. Just do that a few times to feel the catch of the clip. Once the clips are pulled down, you will need something to keep both down. I just put other thin screwdrivers up the hole to hold the clips down. :(

Then put some plastic tape around the edges of the vent so that you can use another thin screwdriver or knife or whatever to pry the vent out. There is a kind of foam rubber gasket on the back of the vent that fits into the air system that is kind of tight so you will need enough force to pull it out. In my case that seal was tight enough to make the removal harder than I thought and thought the clips were not down but they were. You must see the clips down though the vent mechanism. I had to pry on one side and then the other but finally I could see that the vent was slowly coming out of the dash. You just have to keep trying and make sure you have those damn clips down. You can do it, just keep trying and leave the hammer in the tool box. Good luck. :)

cheers mate, I managed it in the end. like you tried it on and off and the last attempt only took 3 minutes ! the key is to put the vents down, turn them towards the middle and push the screw driver through following the angle of the vent. I hope that helps anybody else who is going to live the vent removal nightmare ! cheers for all your help guys anyway !

Hey easty027,

does this mean you got you AUX input installed?

At long last yes......I have posted an update in the general forum.......Thanks for your guidance mate

This can be accomplished with a paper clip. Bend it the right way, stick it in, turn and pull. I got it on my first try and didnt risk scratching anything with putty knives/screwdrivers and the like.
