Vent rattle / Cup holder - fix

Well, today I wanted to tackle that rattle squeaky sound from air vent/cup holder.
What I did is simple:
a. remove air vent / cup holder
b. remove cup holder
c. degrease and clean everything
d. used silicon sticky tape, and put in all the areas where air vent is in contact with air vent cover + contact with cup holder.

When I put it back, even on slightest touch of the finger, it felt solid and no more rattle sound. Ask me after the road trip if the rattle sound went away, I think I fixed it. :)

Just to add onto this thread... In addition to greasing the little tabs that hold the face and body of the vent together, I used one small piece of duct tape on the top area to tighten those two main pieces. (Sorry no pic, but it's obvious when you pull it out that there's some wiggly movement.)

The other thing I did, which really tightened everything up, was apply a thin adhesive foam lining to all edges of the vent that touch the dash board. That worked VERY well to tighten it up. You can get the stuff on Ebay pretty cheaply.
