Have just confirmed that they will offer a 'Lifetime' Renewable premiun Cover' for just one payment of £689. All work carried out at the BMW garage I purchases my car at from new, £0 access. Your old warranty must of expired less than 30 days ago. You must sevice and MOT the car as per manufacturers requirement. Each year give them copy of service documents and MOT cert and they for free give you a year warranty. You must still own the car.
Blimey this is good! BMW Warranty was £792 for just one year. I'm going for it, I think, I can't see a catch....... Blimey.
 
What are the excluded items?

Do they pay for investigation work, or the work needed to get to something? i.e they would pay for fix on a duff engine, but they won't pay to remove all the gubbins around it - heard some do this, can't remember who said about this though?
 
The Policy is 'Premium Warranty Cover'. I think it is £489 then plus £100 to use my BMW Dealership then plus another £100 to cover higher hourly labour rate, total just £689 for life....... Still reading it very carefully.
They seem to pay for parts and labour to get to the part. But you have to contribute if the new part increases the value of your car.
Max £1000 per claim.
Over the duration of insurance they will only pay out up to the purchase price 'you' paid for the ca. For me that is £40000.

Thats the biggest diffference then, the BMW warranty claim limit is the purchase price of the car. With a hourly charge of what £60 - £70 the £1000 limit could come very quickly, making it more of a £1000 contribution to the bill.

How many hours would something like swapping an air con unit out come to, with parts would you get above that £1000 limit.

Just thinking out load, I know it's not your product :D

Really not sure what to do about the warranty, I'm still under the orginal one and have never had anything gone wrong, not even a bit of trim fall off...

Might be better just to keep up pot of cash for anything - hmmm got a 5 months or so to decide I guess

My local dealerships are about £130/hour (inc vat)
 
And my one is £160 an hour......You do know that Margaret Thatcher is no longer prime minister? :poke:

Not had to pay labour on the Z, only standard servicing off the menu. Anything else is warranty even though I've not used it.

The only reason I mentioned the low labour rate is my other half has a similar warranty, on her Audi. And although the labour rate was over the £110 mark to retail, the warranty company got a substantial discount on that figure down to £66ph IIRC- thats where the figure came from... I've normally got a discount on labour rates to get them way below the advertised figures

The majority of warranty companies would not pay retail rates

That was more my point, it would be cheaper to stick to the AA warranty with a similar cap

The 'technician' will be lucky to be on £10-£20/hour (technician - senior technician - master technician), but they've got to pay for all those cappuccinos and biscuits they hand out - and for their customer services and courtesy cars (which you now have to pay an 'admin' fee for), and for their 'detailers' for that 'free' valet.

I'd be happy to pay trade rates (£60/hour or so) on the basis that I wasn't allowed any 'extras' or 'freebies' - as I can get a taxi to & from the garage, buy a dozen coffees, and wash the car myself for less than the extra cost of the full-rate for an hour's labour.
 
my car was in for a service 2 weeks ago, i thought it was generous when i was given a courtesy body to body massage, now I see why they charge £130/hour

That wouldn't have gone far towards my £3000 worth of work covered by BMW Insured Warranty a few months back.

That wouldn't even cover the cost for a new roof motor. :(
 
Yes I know thigs on our cars can be are expensive. For £434 I get the full Comp but have to pay the first £250. i have always gone for the £0 access up to now. Three years ago i had over £2000 of work done on Sat Nav. Ummmmm after some thought I may stick with the BMW one. The other thing with the Insurance for life is how long am I going to keep the car. I have had it six months and am begining to get itchy feet and am looking at the new Z4. So it could be 'Stupid me if I part exchange me car in for a new one in a couple of months time.
