Vehicle Inspection AA OR RAC

Hello again to you all...

I am in the process of trying to buy a Z4 Coupe and was wondering has anyone used either the AA or RAC for a vehicle inspection and how thorough/ acccurate was the report? Were you able to negotiate a much better price with the seller if the vehicle needed attention?

Thanks

I've not used them myself but one of my mates has and it saved him a fortune.

The car he had inspected needed thousands of pounds spending on it (turbo, cam chain rattle, oil leak), so he walked away.

If I find a Z Coupe which I think is good, would you recommend I put down a deposit of £50-100 to secure the vehicle subject to the findings in the inspection report which would be carried out within 48hrs after my viewing?

Definitely worth getting done if you are a novice when it come to cars.

I think the AA use an outside company to do the inspections and probably the RAC do the same,
I'd use the one you have the breakdown cover with, you might get a discount ?

Use RAC out of the two, much more professional and thorough. I found that AA are pants for car inspections, used them once and their report was laughable.

I paid the AA for an inspection which supposedly confirmed the Z4 3.0i I wanted to purchase was in great condition.
I paid the garage a deposit to hold the vehicle and flew in to collect it.
I found the following issues when I called to collect:
Alloy wheels poorly re-painted.
Passenger side door re-sprayed (i confirmed this by the overspray on the window rubber)
Sport button broken.
Wipers broken.
Needless to say i walked away, however the AA report was pathetic.
