how the f**k do you get to the left hand cover in the vanos ... the bullhead is in the way and no pliers in this earth work...

use a set of angled pliers my arse! now im stuck with a half dismantled vanos and no way to go and get anything to sort it.... ive taken vacuum systems apart that cost £100's K with parts that measure the width of an atom that are easier than this!
 
I think I have read on previous posts that some have got away with undoing some of the bolts on the bulkhead which has given just enough room to remove, or releasing the engine mounts and drop the engine a little. I am sure one of the senior members will be along soon to rubbish my answer or confirm. Good luck with it.
 
I cut a couple of threads off the stud, just make sure you leave enough for the nut to go back on.
 
I have some angled pliers but they are not long enough to get to the damn little cover on the left hand cam...

Just going to habe to put it all bavk together and try again another day
