Right, I am 68 years old and have been working/dismantling cars since I was 17. I have owned and taken apart a huge number of vehicles from Morris Minors to Porches up to my last car a Lotus Esprit turbo before I purchased my first Zed two years ago. Mike (Duckleview?) fixed my roof motor for me when basically it was knackered. I couldnt have done that and I can do most things so a huge thumbs up to Mike and let this be the end of suggestions he is just a home mechanic. End of!!!!!!.

I've been waiting for the saint mike Cheerleading squad to show up. Same predictable thing happened when Pastry questioned Mikes conduct a few weeks back.
The irony. You feel you can berate me for having an opinion at the same time as giving us yours!
But the fact remains he's confirmed it for himself. He's a trader pure and simple constantly touting for business. Seriously how is he any different to the thousands of other businesses out there that can't advertise on here?!

When choosing a garage, the issue for me, is there are too many variables.
We’ve all heard the horror stories and all, no doubt, had bad experiences. I bought one of mikes back boxes but chose to get it fitted myself. I took it to three different garages, who all said they could fit it easily.
However, after waiting my turn in the waiting room, I was told it couldn’t be done x 3!! At one garage, I had to wait an hour and a half to be told this. Soooooo annoying, frustrating and needless to say I wouldn’t use any of these places again.
The upshot is, I drive 80 miles and mike fits it in 5 minutes (on a Sunday). Yes it cost me petrol and time but I’d wasted HOURS in garage waiting rooms already!
Unless you have an Indy/garage you trust, you sit in the waiting room, almost dreading the door opening and being told “the bad news”.
I’m cautious and wary of garages and for good reason. I struggle to find anyone to do a “proper” job at a fair price.
I understand the angle Mack is coming from but imo Mike is placed exactly in that spot that I’m guessing many of us are looking for. You know he can sort the issue before you go, you know how much it will cost, you don’t risk leaving your car with a “trainee” for an unspecified timescale, you know he’s not going to try and rip you off, you can read “real” reviews of his work and you know he is knowledgeable about these cars.
Imo he’s offering a service I would love to have closer to home so I’ll wait until my “shopping list” warrants a trip up norf!!!

Mack is entitled to his opinion and has raised some valid points so you need to chill out. Just because people aren’t “jumping in here” doesn’t mean others don’t feel the same, far from it judging by the PMs I and now Mack have received

Jamie I like many people don't come on here to be sold to end of. It's the rules. I didn't make them and I like many who have pmed me have been biting my lip for quite sometime. The irony is if DLV could of resisted the urge to attempt to dismiss a post i made re the cost of vanos repairs (No doubt he wasn't happy about me questioning what is A LOT CHEAPER AND what isnt) I would have probably kept quiet. If anything he's done it to himself but regardless of what my motivation was, what I said needed saying
