Vanos readings E85 2.5 2004 82k

Hi,

Having just replaced the serpentine belt and pullies I went to clear the error code for the fan being detected missing ;no other codes were present

I noticed on my c410 code reader I could look at live data from the vanos system which according to Google is concerning even though the car runs ok without any warning lights/codes and idles at 700 nicely.

Can anyone advise if the outputs are way off on the reader (pic attached), or in tolerances. Or is this a problem about to happen.

I've taken the top solenoid off (waiting for socket for lower) which was clean as an initial check

Any advice please.

Many thanks for looking J

Firstly, you can remove the lower solenoid with an adjustable spanner. Only need a slight tweak and it usually will then unscrew by hand. Make sure the shuttle valve inside doesn't fall out, or the spring behind it.
Those figures look ok compared with mine. What you ideally need to be checking is that they move when you rev the engine. Not much until over 3000rpm though.
The exhaust one tends to move a lot more than the inlet.

Look at it this way: no lights on the dash and if you hadn't gone fishing you'd never have worried yourself. ;)

Cheers, was concerned but the minus reading. But as you say , go fishing....

For the exhaust solenoid do you go from underneath!

Thanks kindly

Exhaust solenoid is visible from the top. It sits crossways, pointing down at about a 45 degree angle.
For easier access you can remove the front plastic infill and lift the fan out.
