have read on a few occasions that the s54 vanos has no problems like the s50, but a bit of noise around 2-3K Revs is totally normal, when i had an s50 any noise was according to forum doomsayers was the beginning of the end and was almost a case of "when" not "if" it failed. i had the s50 mr for 5 years trouble free, always a bit of vanos growl on over run from 2000 revs down, but no loss of performance, what is the major difference in the vanos between th s50 and the s54 that makes it ok to have noise on one but not the other ? i know about the bolt recall and the failing seals issue on the s50, i notice the vanos filter is in a totally different place on the s54 vanos, any ideas ?
