Vanos Oil Line Group Buy

Hi all

my car is due for some work in Janurary and one of the items I will be replacing is the Vanos Oil line.

These are well known for leaking and are a cheap replaceable part.

So who would be interested in one if I can get a good price?

Rouge do one and its £59. Might be able to get a little discount if we buy in bulk.

I'm sorry I've got to say it, the company which makes aftermarket BMW parts is called ROGUE

Rouge is something ladies put on their faces.

ha! tertius.
No offence ITAG, some good work on here from you but Tertius is spot on - you've been typing "rouge" for months on the group buy thread!
where do these pipes go to and from - is it a big job to get them installed or a home job?

Erm not sure but it can leak at both ends. I will ring the garage tomorrow and ask labour costs and see what else can be done at the same time. Little TLC often prevents big bills IMO. Had a massive oil leak in My S2000 after leaving the oil filler cap off the engine! The mess was unbelievable!

itag, is correct.... BUT... heres some info..

The early vanos line from bmw has 1 brace point, so it was flexing and would split leading to the complete oil loss, yes every drop of oil spraying all over the engine bay within around 5 seconds, bmw then released the revision ( our car has this) where it is now braced in numerous places. Their are a number of replacements available from the likes of rogue and bimmerworld, however they are replacing with a braided flexi type hose ( like your brake lines) . Whats interesting is the stock bmw while DOES need replacing periodically its lasting 10+ years before doing so, these new replacements in the after-market world state replace YEARLY, not sure if thats confidence in the product. My advice? stick with the stick uprated item and replace with the Oem bmw piece. Lastly the flexi items from the aftermarket world just don't look as clean either. FWIW the split usually happens from the top hardline where it leads into the banjo.

Note *** i don't think I've seen one UK reported failure, all I've read about are state side.
