Vanos filters/check valves n52

Hi Folks,

Get the car an oil change and flush today and was doing a few other things, oil pressure sender, both Vanos Solenoids ( I think I just avoided slitting my wrists and my hands may recover!) I could only find one cam sensor at the front, couldn't see the other on the side, so decided waited to see how it runs first. I wanted to do the filters/check valves but despite pics online, struggled to find them. The engine seems more canted over in the Z4 than the cars shown in the pics, E90s etc. Has anyone done this job on a facelift 2.5 Z4 n52, if so how much needs to come out to find/access these filters/check valves? Considered the water bottle and looks like maybe the driver side wheel and wheel liner? Any help appreciated.

I have just cleaned solenoids and was going to do the oil check filters but they are well hidden and could only see them with a mirror . I was going to remove the wheel liner at some point as you said as I think that is the only way .

Hi 1536Z4,

Hadn't clocked them removing that wee bracket before, so thanks for that! Couldn't even see or feel them with finger. The Z4 seems to have different routing for aircon too, but I can look at the on next attempt. Think I'll need to drain all the washer fluid, remove the bottle and then jack it up and check the arch liner. I'll try and get some pics when I do, see what weather is like tomorrow. The new Vanos valves and move to 5w40 seem to have made a difference. Think the Sump gasket is weeping, so best add that to my list for the summer.
