Valvetronic eccentric sensor

Hi everyone

So my BMW scanner arrived today and i plugged it straight it to find out what is wrong with the love wagon.

The following appeared

2A87 Exhaust VANOS, Mechanisum

2A31 Valvetronic Eccentric shaft sensor, guide

2A32 Valvetronic Eccentric shaft sensor, reference

2A47 Valvetronic Eccentric shaft sensor, Plausibility

After looking these codes up, a lot of the problem with the sensor is tat oil is in the sensor around the pins. But mine is bone dry.

Could it be anything to do with the cam? cam bearing ledge?

I changed the oil filter the other day and the oil is jet black. I know this wont help so im going to get it flushed and replaced tomorrow before i replace anything new, just to get coated in crap oil!

But like i said, the other write-ups I've read state oil getting into the sensor. I don't have that problem on my car

The sensor can still fail without oil getting into it

Leave the sensor, the other problem may be causing it to missinterpret things..
