Valve clearence check

Hi all, hope all the Z4 community is well. I wanted to do a valve clearance check and possibly a vanos refresh myself, never done one before and would like to learn.

My question is, is there anyone near the London Feltham area that has done it before on their car that could show me how it's done ofcourse I'll pay for your time. :)

Thanks all for reading

Lol, either take Argentas advice OR if you can get to my house in Bath on Saturday 11th we will be doing an inspection service on Toms M. Ive done a Vanos refresh on my 325ti last year, both jobs are perfectly doable at home IF you consider yourself confident with spanners. As mentioned on the thread I started a few weeks ago a home service record may put some off come resale time. ☺cheers, Dave

There a lot of good material on YouTube and also e46 m3 forums with detailed pics and notes. Would start with that to get an idea if it's something you want to tackle. If after that you do then plan plan and plan as it's a doable job but takes a very methodical approach.

Haha thanks for the replies, I'll have a look at some videos to get an idea on what it involves. I've worked on cars servicing, changing brakes and pads etc but ofcourse this is my precious haha
thanks for the offer on the 11th but unfortunately I work most weekends. I'll watch a few videos and go from there.

Just thought if there was someone that has done it before and fancied cash in hand rather than pay a garage and me not learning would of been nice.

And it needs to be stone cold to check the shims.

Thanks appreciate it, I have a few days of holiday so I'm sure I'll be able to research/get shims etc needed/do the job and drink a nice cold beer :)

That is a well priced kit, depending on shipping and taxes of course. They are the same shims I used.
