value of 108s

I have what I think are a reasonable set of 108's on my z4. Typical staggered size with run flat pirelli p zero tyres that are in very good condition with 6mm of tread approx no damage and they hold air. They have not been refurbished previously as far as I or the two previous owners are aware. They are not without some scuffs /blemishes but better than many i have seen...
I plan to use the z4 12 months a year, don't have a garage so am on the cusp of buying z4 m224 s which I think will cope better with this. Really appreciate any thoughts on what these 108's and tyres might be worth. I can't split but could box up for people and located in sawbridgeworth, herts. Thanks

To give you an idea.

I paid £125 with runflat tyres with good amount of tread in need of a refurb.

I would say yours are in slightly better condition but still in need of a refurb.

Fully refurbed they look great but costly and a pain to get refurbed which I didn't fully apprciate when I bought mine.

Why not keep them as a winter set.
 
Sorry. What I meant was 2 are in good condition and you could get away with not having to refurb them.

I didn’t mean they were beyond refurbishment
 
If the tyres suit you (as they are a good brand being Pirelli), keep them. Swap the rubber onto your 224's.

You can then sell the 108's bare, which would make it easier for any buyer as they'd probably be refurbishing before fitting anway. You could probably get the £150 for just the bare set of 108's. The quality of tyre has little impact on the value of the wheel itself in my experience.
 
i'd say 2 of the rims could do with a refurb, but the tyres look pretty good, so i'd say £250 for the lot.

OK thanks for that. Gives me a rough idea of value. I think two are pretty good as you say and could probably do for many folk. I might have explored the idea of a refurb myself but just not sure this will ever be as good as the factory finish - they do really look great on the car.

Thanks for the feedback. I hadn't really considered the option of swapping the tyres over tbh. I might be wrong but I thought the run flats wouldn't fit on the z4 m 224’s, I have though read so much about tyres and wheels my head was spinning ! I have a 07 /face lift 2.0 sport with the standard sport suspension. I have read that this particular model with the run flats can give a harsher ride than many z4's. My plan was to run the 224s with non run flat tyres. Would welcome any thoughts if folk have some experience of this...negligible difference possibly.

Oh. I hadn’t spotted the RSC stamp until now...
I change my mind then. You’d probably only get £100 for the wheels and tyres :rofl:

In all seriousness you could still split the tyres from the wheels. As I said, someone looking to buy 108’s would want them near perfect so would need the refurb (in my opinion) and also wouldn’t really want the runflats. This would give you £150 for the alloys still. Then £100 to £150 for the tyres?

Of course that’s not hassle free and if that’s too much time/effort just stick them on eBay for 99p and let it run it’s course :thumbsup:

Thanks again for thus and for not laughing at the previous owners tyre choice, I could cry - I have the receipt and they were best part of £800 with fitting etc. Gold plated valves perhaps!?
Out of interest have you run both run flats and non ? Would I see a big difference given the cost involved do you think?
 
Loads of topics on run flats v non.

I noticed a massive difference when I ditched by runflats, it completely cured my high speed tramlining

Loads of threads on here about the difference, but changing to non-runflats completely transformed the ride of the car for me (3.0si on 108s), got rid of tramlining. Highly recommended. Just find a tyre inflator + sealer kit, to carry round in the boot in case of emergency.

On some surfaces it is very noticeable, shocking really. I am convinced I need to make the swap so will think about the best way of doing that. Thanks MKZ4000 and Barney 08 :thumbsup:
