enfield my dear, if it was JUST a car, you wouldn't have bothered with a poll! :) Face it: You care

That is why I was  ing when I posed that question. It is one hell of a fun drive and I really want to take it with me to the north country. The area is GORGEOUS and in September the leaves may be turning. The opportunities for photography would be fantastic and the ///M would be fun to drive in the hills.

That hotel is one of the top 500 in the world. I am sure that they have Ferraris/Porsches given to the valet. I have a poor little Z4M and it's vlaue is going down like the titanic. Plus it is a lease and I have every intention of returning it because it will not be worth the residual value at the end of the lease.... Still - I do not want it to be abused.... Maybe I will hand the valet $40 and tell him to be kind :?

Too much worrying, my friend.

You could be out running errands, park the car in the lot and have some schmo bang his door against yours. Or some a-hole key your car...

valets park cars all the time. Let them do their job or tell them you'll park it yourself and pay for all the fees.

its just a car in the end i don't like others driving my car but thats what insurance is for if anything happens kick the living s**t out of him or her

least that would make u feel better it would me

Valet is common as dirt in Scottsdale, AZ. Always tons of Lambo and Ferrari owners handing their keys over.

But the best I've seen (during the Barrett Jackson Car show) was a guy with a souped up semi trailer. I watched him pull the thing into the valet and hand over the keys. The valet just looked at him like...what the hell do you want me to do with this thing!!! The valet moved it about 20 feet forward and called that the parking spot :P

^^^ both you guys make sense. Valet's have bigger and better fish to fry than a cheap Z4M. I really would prefer to take the Z4 and I will. I will also probably let the valet do his/her job.

if it's nice weather take the walk... if it's crappy weather just give it to the valet. I like my car a lot, but I really dont stress too much over stuff like that.... but then again, mine's not an M ;)

i pay for valet and ask if i could park it instead, seems to work every time, my only concern is the valet scraping the spoiler in th garage ramps (like i do once a week) :poke:

Here's another thing to consider. Again, at least here in AZ, there's valet everywhere, every bar, every mall, every restaurtant. I never valet...but not because I don't trust them. It' just seems lazy as here valet is at the entrance...or I can just self park 100m away. Just stilly when there's tons of close parking.

Howerver, here's the good part, the valet stands here have special parking. So when I self park, I can't park next to a valet'd car. In fact, in the parking garages, it's a separate area altogether in some places. But in all valets, at least the area is roped off. So in that sense it may be SAFER for your car. Only the valets will be parking next to you. So you won't have to worry about some careless person parking too close or hitting you with their door.

mattholecko, you bring up an interesting and valid point. Valet parking may be safer because it is indoors and only valet's will have access....

I think you might also be giving too much credit to valets thinking they wouldn't mess your Z4M just because they get to drive Ferrari's/Lambo's from time to time. A Z4M might be just a car to some people on the forum, but it's also a car that most, if not all, valets can't afford to own. And we all know how rare the Z4M coupe is, so from a valet's point of view, who knows when will be the next time he gets his hands on a Z4M coupe so he can do a comparison between it and the 911's, etc.

Twice I have witnessed first hand how BMW technicians at the dealers messed with customers' cars. One time it was an M3 with BBS LM's and pretty loud exhausts - the technician did a burnout and squeeled the tires again shifting from 2nd to 3rd. The other time, unfortunately for me, was my own Z4M. After I handed the technician the key (he had to drive around the block into the service shop), I went back outside to see him take off in my car because, well, I wanted to see how my car looked like in motion. The technician had no idea I was standing 100 feet away looking at him. As soon as he turned on the engine he revved it "high" several times while the car was parked, probably to hear my Eisenmann exhausts, but no doubt it was unnecessary. 10 seconds later after he had left my sight and I was ready to walk back into the service department to talk to the service manager, I heard him gunning it in first and part of 2nd gear. Keep in mind that these are people who get to drive BMW's, who get to drive the M3's and the Z4's all day long.

I've been lucky so far and have been able to pay a few extra $s to the valet to leave my car parked out in front of the restaurants I was going to. Otherwise, I'd rather park the car on my own than to leave the Z in the hands of a stranger.

Well - looks like the FX45 won. I will follow the advice of the majority. It is a very comfprtable car for long drives. The 4.5L V8 has plenty of power and I will have the 20 inch rims with lower profile tires at that time of year. Comfortable drive up. No worries with the valet and a comfortable drive.... I think I may head to Quebec City for a day or 2 after the course and try out my rudimentry French :D - Quebec City has some of the best looking women in North America :D :D

The really good news! We will be using e92 M3's with DCT and not the 6-speed at the course

Take the FX45. I might take that course myself, see you around. :)

You may want to sign up soon. Fascination I is filling up quickly because of the E92 M3 with DCT - a lot of people want to give this car a good spanking before they decide to get one! There are a total of 12 spots this year....

I'm sure there was a time when you were hesitant about giving your FX45 to a valet? What once was perhaps your pride and joy is now 2nd fiddle. If you're hesitant about leaving your Z with the valet, then you should be just as hesitant about leaving your FX45 with them as well. I don't want to tell you how to treat your kids...oops, cars, but since you asked, you shouldn't treat them any different.

Darn it! There you go and make me feel like Eliot Spitzer!! :D The old pride and joy.... the new pride and joy.... I should treat them both the same. You are right!!

This feels like an emotional roller-coaster. The voting is clear.... The FX. You are clear.... treat them the same. The FX is mine and the Z4 is a lease.... (makes me sound even more like Eliot Spitzer!!) - ride the lease hard. Be gentle on what is mine....
