Valet Parking?

When ever I have used valet, it is at a very high end hotel or restaurant. I usually tip $10 up front, and tell them to take good care. This usually gets you a high visibility parking space and the valet's attention. The other advantage is that they usually remember you when you are leaving, so there is no need to even produce the claim ticket. Usually another $5 or $10 on pick-up is in order - a small price to pay to get a prime spot with other well cared for cars (Ferraris, Porsches, Bentleys, Astons, etc.)

But thats possibly $20, which is roughly £12 I think. Assuming the self park option is free, that seems a ridiculously overpriced way to park the car. I understand people work for tips, but £12 is just under what I earn in an hour, and there is no way someone parking my car is worth an hours pay?

That's it for me, I'd rather park my car myself than pay more for someone else to drive it for me!

The only times I've done valet were because there was no choice - if I had the option I'd rather do it myself.

Done it in the states a few times. In San Francisco, my front number plate was bent when the car was returned but the guy denied any responsibility. It didn't get noticed when I returned the car to the rental company.

Staying at the Raddisson in Bristol tonight, earlier on I let them valet park my Zed (only because I couldn't find a car park anywhere near) I've felt sick ALL evening... especially after reading the disclaimer that the hotel accept no liability whatsoever for any damage to the car on parking.

What have I done to my poor baby?!!! :o

I regularly get that feeling and am consigning #69 to BA valet parking tomorrow. They took care of her last time and are fully insured so fingers crossed...

Would be a bit embarrassing taking her to Coventry next weekend with some fresh valet damage :D

Though I'm sure she will be fine... Will the ///M ever be left at Heathrow I wonder...

It's only the potential delay to the handover I'm worried about. If they ding they pay. When you see Ferraris lined up waiting to be collected you realise you're being silly fretting :)

I'd recommend taking a video of your mileage (to show that the mileage was checked at the place) and if u noticed that the car was driven a long distance you can report it to them he'll maybe u can get special parking as a sorry gesture or something lol since I just got a new exhaust put in on my Z I can just wait a minute or so to listen if the valet Parker doesn't just floor it and waste my tank of gas xD just my opinion though :P

Or just fit a camera behind the front mirror linked to the ignition.

I've been planning on fitting one for a while now, just for generally driving around.

I bet the silver Car's driver didn't even leave a note on the others windscreens before he snuck off
I don't think the Z owner would need a note to know something happened to his baby xD hell if the silver BMW was lucky and no one saw anything he could have dove away and the Z owner would just blame the mercadiez owner lmfao

Well in the end when I arrived at the hotel I found the car park and parked myself so all that worry for nothing, they did ask if I wanted them to drive my car to reception on check out but I declined as it was so close to reception it seemed a bit silly.
