Vague Center Steering

The car is a 2007 3.0SI E86 Coupe

The problem is that at 100 km/h (60 mph) there is around an 1 inch (25mm) area of vague steering in the center. The car can jump either way a little when steering is centered. Put the car in sports mode and it's worse.

Question. Is there a way to adjust the steering rack and tighten up the center area?

I've done a search and found lots of "sticking steering" threads, but nothing on my particular problem.

I would start with the usual thing of adjusting the spacer on the eps motor.
Lots of people will tell you that later models had an ‘upgraded’ column so this doesn’t happen, but I’ve done the adjustment on a few now and it still works.

Thank you @enuff_zed , I have done a search of "EPS motor adjustment" and found the below thread to guide me.

Yup. Do it in situ. Use an 8mm bihex ratchet ring spanner on the bolts. Fits well and as it’s straight you can easily get to both bolts
