Good afternoon all,

Wanted to start my first ever build thread of my 2004 Black Z4 3.0 SE Roadster. Black on black hence the name as suggested by another user in my newbie post haha.

Had the car one week and already put over 600 miles on including a long weekend around Snowdonia, absolutely loving it so here we go:

First couple mods upon purchase, stubby aerial and aux cable install into standard radio.

Firstly stubby aerial, part number 6561N3 believe it's originally from a Peugeot or something, only £8 and nice and short, but having some issues getting it to sit flush, anyone got any ideas? (link below)

Then the Aux install, had some fun getting the vents out of the dash, but after this was a simple process to get radio out, install cable (fruitycarcables as recommended) and drilled hole into panel under A/C units. Cable was only £14.99 and works perfectly would definitely recommend. (link below)

More to follow

Next up was tyres, old ones were very low (nearly thread bearing on the rear :( ) so went for 4 new AVON ZZ5 tyres, normally stick with Michelin or Goodyears but the price difference was too much to ignore and these seem good so far, with plenty of decent reviews on the web.

Managed to get all four fitted for £340 which I thought wasn't too bad with some of the prices I have seen for the rears alone haha.

Yes the wheels do need a refurb, this is coming.

After having the car for a few hundred miles now I am starting to notice a couple of issues if someone could possibly help.

Firstly rattles, A-pillar and somewhere at the top of the drivers footwell/ lower dash. The rattle from the lower dash appears to stop when I rest my knee against the console pad so I assume I need to add some sort of tape between the console and dash panel, the A-pillar however I cannot seem to find any instructions to remove after a quick search, anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,

Jack

Looks like Jollyjoiners previous Zed with the wheels and red calipers. Easy way to find out there’ll probably be a pile of bone shards under the seat rattled off from all his broken limbs.... :P

Hope you enjoy the forum Jack. :driving:

Ay you, I resemble that remark

Nice motor Jack and yes it used to be mine before I sold it for a 35i :D

What the feck has the guy I sold it too been doing with those wheels, oh I know, using them to find the edge of the curb but the looks of it :x

It always had the rattle which stopped when you held your left knee on the console but no rattle above A pillar.

Welcome to the Bright side of the force. :) Need a bigger light sabre than that though. :whip:
