Hi all... I could use your advice! There's a smell of burning and a little bit of light smoke from the engine bay of my 2.o 2006 z4 intermittently, usually when cold. 
I have done a bit if research and think it could be a failing seal within the vacuum pump. It was suggested that the 2.0 model is prone to this issue, which can be a little pricey to fix if you, like me, don't have the skills for DIY. My question is - how big an issue is this? Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice would be much appreciated! I've only had the car a week or so... a bit skint from the initial outlay, so would like to avoid a whacking great repair bill. Also, the car has a slight fluctuation at idle...throttle body needing a scrub? Would you endorse a fuel treatment? Cheers, Paul
