Vacuum drain hole water/debris out from top?

Has anyone ever tried to drill out the holes slightly to aid drainage?
Anyone removed the nipples that bung up?
Great pictures Mike, just grabbing my torch!

They look tiny from above, but they are actually 11mm, after all. I think drilling would be a blueprint for disaster, damaging or dislodging the drain tube or, at best, just relocating the bottleneck further down. AFAIK there is no reasonable access to repair the tubes. Those who have broken zeds for parts may know better? And there is a spare part in catalogues, after all. Notice the joint in the middle - would not want to dislodge that!

It's been said that not replacing the bungs under the car increases road noise in the cabin. No experience myself as replaced the bungs after rodding .

[ref]colb[/ref], thanks, great info, I hadn’t realised that there was a tube that ran down to the bottom.
My very first job that I did when I got my zed was to check and clear both sides. They were both remarkably clear though.
Water runs through and drains straight out. I did refit the nips though.
Car is garaged full time and dry use only so I’m not concerned but will regularly check.

With the rubber bung valves left off there is no noticeable rise in road noise inside the car, mine runs without them, the drain tube is too small for rodent access and insects are unlikely to make homes in them where they are shielded by the sills.
