V32.2 FIRMWARE

Ah Ok, figured out what's going on now with a bit of help from Google. I've installed (by accident) a version with speed camera alerts enabled, this replaced the language selection and when turned OFF all is in english, when ON some of it is french but that enables the camera alerts to work.. now that I know how it works all is good :)
 
Dazerc where did you get that disc from? I take it you mean the a428 lol? I use that road sometimes and it's annoying it's not on the satnav.

On a side note does nobody get street names on the map in perspective mode? Bit annoying really!

The A421 from Bedford to Milton Keynes M1 J13. The duel carageway was finishd about 2 years ago. Running alongside the old A421.
 
7 digit postcode is nothing to do with the firmware. It's purely a POI database that's been built and added in to the map data, like the speed cameras. The "non standard" firmware adds things like night mode colours. DON'T put non standard firmware on your nav computer if you have a warranty
 
Hi

I'm having trouble with this. I put the disk in this morning and it just got spat out and refused to play ball.

Firstly, I didn't call the disk "Nav SW" - does this make a difference?

Secondly, I couldn't copy it at x1 - my laptop and my work desktop refused and copied at c.x10.

I had to burn two discs before getting it right, using the ISO file provided here.

And it seems i can't get any POI on the nav, like gas station or parking, why is that ?
 
The French language thing is related to the camera POI function. you enable the camera alarm which used to be the language menu.. hence when you change it to ON, you also inadvertantly select French!

It puzzled me for a while too!
 
Right, sorted.

I downloaded the image version (see page 3 of this thread) and burnt that. This disk was accepted immediately and update took a couple of mins.

Does this now mean that I can buy any map disk from any year (my player is from 2004)? I'd rather get a 2009/10 or 11 rather than fork out £149 at a BMW dealer...

Go to the main menu. From there, click on the "SET" or "SETTINGS" selection. The type of your nav computer and OS will appear on the upper right corner of the screen.

The first digit tells you which version of the nav computer you have, and the last two digits tell you the OS version.
If the first digit is a "3," you have a MKIII computer. If you have a MKIII, then the newest OS version is 3-1/63.
If the first digit is a "4," you have a MK4 computer. If you have a MK4, then the newest OS version is 4-1/00.
 
Hello again

So I managed to get 32.2 onto my system, which is good.

However, I just received anoriginal unopened 09-1 DVD and this didn't work...

It hasn't crashed my system, thankfully, and the old 03 DVD still works.

Any ideas?

I had spoken to BMW who said I had a "professional" system.

Having read around on the get it may seem that I have the "high" system...

Does this sound correct?

I can see very cheap (ergo dubious) 2012 version on Ebay at a tenner... Thoughts?
 
Right, confirmed with BMW that I needed teh high version. Shame they didn't tell me that when I first called them!!

BMW code is 65 90 2155 925, but I'll not be paying them £179 for it!
 
Ok so i've just updated to the latest firmware from post 3 and now my phone menu has completely vanished! Any ideas guys?

I think I initially (by accident I might add) put on the V32.2 on which showed up on my screen as something like 4 1/02 but now I have the proper (I think) software which is called 4 1/00?
 
When in doubt roll back to the original firmware, check all is ok, then try upgrading again

How do I roll back? I tried putting my original 2006 Map disc in and nothing came up it just worked?
