Remember that Z4 M Roadster that had an M5's V10 shoved into it? http://jalopnik.com/5120196/v10+powered-bmw-z4-the-non+hairdresser-version

Well here's a video. Sounds mean doesnt it?

Stunning conversion and I agree lovely sound.

Not too impressed with all of the "hairdressers car" quotes in that article though.

Wonderful :D

If that was in a magazine, it'd be top shelf, wrapped in plastic and not sold in Smiths! Pure car porn.

I think it's brilliant that people do these things

Think this V10 mod is my next project, will try and find a good indy to do it for me, i would do it myself but i just have not got the time, anybody got any idea on a budget cost :)

Love the burble on the over-run. :)
Hope they told the insurance company.
Bet their next mod is a Stubby.

Sweeeet, i recon you'd be in the region of well over £10K to do that mod. I'd look at other options first like supercharging the 3.0 litre, the M54 is a good engine. I recon the V10 will weigh a ton and the amount of power might be too much for that chasis, the engine is probably the easy part but what about uprating everything else.

I'd love that car though even just for the sound.

A modded M54B30 will hit about 420bhp with lots of mods, but still about £7000 worth + you'd need the M54 engine making work with the N52 setup you have...

I think the old S62 engine from the V8 M5 is the best bet... will do 450bhp with some light breathing, will be cheap to get hold of too... the V10 is so exotic in so many ways it's not gonna be cheap still to buy, put in, or if things go wrong!

i think 10K is optermistic lol

I was guessing, now i think of it I recon the engine alone is probably £15K nevermind the upgraded brakes, suspension and running gear etc.... A mad amount to spend on a car.

The valvetronic engines are not the best to tune unfortunately... would be better swapping to an M one then supercharging it :D (still not cheap :( )

I imagine;

£5k engine (saw one with 15k on it for this price)
£1500 ECU
£? gearbox?
£1000+ to sort the exhausts
£2k suspension
£2k brakes
£1k+?? diff

Add some tuning, a load of labour and its going to be £15k. A good £4 costs £10k+ so you will ave spent £25k on it, ok it will probably be Ferrari 430 quick in a straight line given 1500kg est and 500-550bhp, but thats serious cash, Noble M12 etc money. Top 600bhp Monaro etc.

Be AMAZING though, I'd love one, for me it would be a perfect car.

Better! ;) :D

V8 is the proper engine for this car!

V10 sounds a bit odd really, but a rorty V8 sounds spectacular!

Sorry dude, if it has to be a V8 then it should be the S65 lump from the M3 but either way i still prefer the aural pleasures of the V10..

Oh and here's another S62'd Z4 video. This one's from AC Schnitzer.
