Using mini aux cable?

I'm looking at a simple mod to get an aux cable in my 2003 Z4 and it seems the cheapest option is to use the mini one? Would I be right in thinking this (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-5mm-Female-Jack-AUX-Input-Cable-Adaptor-for-BMW-E46-E83-E86-X3-Z4-MINI-COOPER-/281958429813?hash=item41a6083475:g:2AsAAOSwFqJWjljO) will do the job?

My question is, what size drill bit will I need? and is it best to drill from the inside of the plate or outside? Thinking of mounting it in the panel under the air con controls.

I would work from about 2mm for a pilot hole then increase in size till it fits snug. I have the bmw one with a small face plate attached to the cover under the heater controls, I took this off and drilled front outside inwards.

I got it from bmw on amazon uk, think I paid silly monies for it, roughly 50 quid.
