Using Goo Gone on soft top? (Cleaning tree sap)

Anyone used GooGone on the soft top before? Or know of any way to get rid of tree sap. I've tried using soft top cleaners, soaking and rubbing it out, but still has a sligh white mark.

A drop or two sap landed on the black plastic above the side view mirros, I used Goo Gone there, it took 3 min and was gone. I know the stuff will work, but dont want to discolor the soft top.

Any ideas?

BMW sells a soft top cleaner that will safely remove tree sap and bird poop from the soft top (yes, I speak from experience). Worthwhile investment and if you use anything else I'm pretty sure it voids the warranty!!!!

Hm, I did use that, it helped, but still a stain maybe I'll let it set in a little longer.
