Using a "R" rated tire

Hey gang,

I'm wanting to get rid of my run flats but have a limited budget... Has anyone ran a "R" series tire on an E85 Sport Z ?

I'm looking at some Nankings.. same stock sizes..

It's ok if people want to bash me... lol

They are such small sidewalls "35" that I wonder if it matters that much???

Thx!!!

Which specific tyres are you thinking of fitting? A quick look on Black Circles suggests there aren't suitable r rated tyres in the sizes required. :?

Don't think the OP is from the UK so perhaps slightly different rules..?

Depends what you mean R...

For instance my fronts are 225/40 R 18 92Y

The R purely means they are radial tyres, whereas the Y is speed rating.

Correct, I am in the U.S. "R" rated tires are in this line up...

S,R,Y,Z,W "S" being the slowest..... The "R" im asking about is just a softer tire... So, does anyone have experience running softer tire? How bad did it affect body roll? being that our wheel and tire sizes have such a small sidewall profile... 35 rear and 40 front, I wonder if mattered that much? as sway bars help control roll also...

So basically, if you are running a softer sidewall tire then the OEM ones.. How big of a ride handling difference is there? Is it minimal?

Sorry, I have 18 in LA Style wheels... Chrome... Very difficult to find

See attached Picture....

BTW, this has been one of the best cars that I have ever owned... 94k on the clock for an 03... 2 owner
