Is this forum purely just people berading for sale threads with comments on price?

He can offer them for any price he wants, this place is becoming toxic.

I quite like the feeling of protection offered by experience members.

& until forum rules change I can offer any comment positive or negative.
Perhaps consider someone reads all positive above comments then buys them only to discover he's paid almost what a similar set can be bought new for?
Do some homework, VMR are pretty average , a set of Axe Cs lite are easily as good if not better quality & around £600 brand new so next time before getting sand in your fanny study the topic you are commenting on.

I’d have to agree with Mr Wilks.
£500 is an extortionate ask bearing in mind the state of them.

It’s going to cost the buyer £5-£10 per wheel for tyre removal and disposal then on top of that most refurbishers would be asking £50 a wheel so they need £250 spent on them. (Excluding shipping costs)

So you should be asking about £150 with a £250 spend that will give someone a set for £400 with the hassle when they could buy a comparable new set off the shelf for £500 trouble free with shipping included.

Course he can..if he wants to sell them here for free however then he and yourself need to remember its a public forum where anyone can comment and in all likelihood if the pricing is off the mark people will..can help the seller get a sale if he takes it on board and any unawares buyer gets the benefit of forum wisdom..nothing toxic in that..you could always bog off somewhere more to your taste if you don't like the vibe here, its called freedom of choice, bit like freedom of speech really.

I still think they’re a lovely looking designed wheel
Always had a thing for 710s.
GLWTS OP

X2

This forum is a breath of fresh air, compared to some others - from odd snippets I’ve seen

...We are very fortunate to have a plethora of members, who know these cars inside out, - whether it be regarding Engines; Suspension; Interiors; Wheels & other specialist areas..

Everyone is entitled to comment on threads..

Not being critical of the OP’s post, BUT:
Zooming in on the images, all four rims - look to have potential ‘Kerb Rash’ ; Some of the tyres, were manufactured in 2015 I see..

Are they worth £500? IMHO: I, sadly suspect not - for a set of (what, visually appear) tired AfterMarket wheels.
However, all the OP needs is a buyer - who thinks they are worth such, a figure.. :?

When I saw them I thought you’ve got to be kidding...but kept stum...

I’ve commented positively on a number of sellers posts..where I think the seller is offering good value..

It’s trickie...do you piss on a sellers bonfire and enlighten the would be buyer or keep quiet? :tumbleweed:

I don't see any issue making positive or negative comment providing its offered constructively.
Id be the first to tell someone they were offering wheels or car too cheap but the freedom to offer opinion & thoughts has to work both ways or some might start believing in fairies

Fair comments I’d say, as with anything, they are only worth what someone is willing to pay. That said comments from the more senior and keener eyed members can potentially stop less experienced members parting with their hard earned cash unnecessarily. I for one would appreciate a member stepping in and tell me if I was about to pay over the odds or could get the same thing new for only a few pounds more. This is a forum where we supposedly look out for each other’s best interests.

I think what’s often forgotten is this place is FREE to buy and sell, if you were paying fees then yes I get the argument...sort of....so as comments above it’s open season that can often highlight a problem. If you don’t want comments on an open forum don’t post for sale ads for free, go and pay your fees.

I was going to post something similar, but thought better of it... but now that discussion has started ( and this thread will need a tidy) i side with the seller... its their for sale thread, they should be able to ask whatever they want for them. Its up to the buyer to do their due diligence.

If the seller (or a buyer) requests advice on what something is worth, then chime in, but until then, id keep schtum.

Personally, if i was selling something and was told the price was too high after less than an hour, id politely tell the poster to butt out and ask that his post be removed.

Sorry guys, didn't know the price was going to be so controversial haha. I'm open to offers. Wasn't really sure what price to sell them at. If anyone is interested just send me pm 👍

This is a dedicated forum for members who for the most part put a lot of faith in knowing that something being offered here is accurately described & fairly priced , to suggest it would be the buyers fault if they overpaid for something makes me feel a little uncomfortable with your ethics regarding used goods
Anyhow i see you asked for the offsets 8) hopefully they suit your car & you can give the seller his £500

The price isn't controversial , my comment " unless i'm missing something OP i would have a rethink on the ask" is what appears to be the cause of controversy with certain forum crusaders
