If im not mistaken I think I have seen some tips that from 2006 is the most reliable, and a 2.5/3 liter seems to be the main advice if you are buying.
After Ive had mine for a year ish and getting to know the car im also probably upgrading to a newer model and a 2.5/3 liter.

2006 aren’t any more reliable than pre 2006, just different issues due to different engines.
Hi and welcome - its a sports car get the biggest engine you can!
The running costs of the 2.5 and 3.0 are about the same and by all accounts so is fuel consumption so unless insurance is an issue get a big one
The 3.0 might well have been better spec-ed but try and find one with heated seats (these will make every day a top down day even in winter) and better still Msport electric heated seats they are expensive as a retro fit but well worth having.

Buy a 3.0 pre 2006 for the 6th gear and also because telling people you have a 3.0 under the hood sounds better than 2.5 :lol:
Heated seats are a must in the roadster. Cruise control is also nice to have. Rear parking sensors aren't essential, as the rear end is tiny. Front sensors would be much better.
Engines are pretty bomb proof. Mines done me well from having 67k miles when I bought it, to 132k currently

Look at the problems part of the forum.
Get any potential purchase looked at. Error codes, suspension etc. as you would with any other car.
Budget for some repairs / maintenance and servicing before buying.
