Used modifications sellable?

I have been offered a cracking deal on an M3. I'm weighing up the pro's and cons.

My question is:

Do you think there is a market for the following used components?

6 Genuine CSL wheels. 4 rear 2 front. (Well used.)
Strut brace. (3 years old but like new.)
Remus back boxes.(3 years old and an exhaust!)
AP brakes front and rear. (Perfect order but a little tatty looking.)
Nitron one way adjustable suspension. (only 4 or 5 months on the car.)

The plan would be to take the car to Simpsons Motorsport and have everything removed and put back to standard trade my car in and sell the used parts.

Any thoughts/ideas/recommendations.

Thanks.

Well you have a possible buyer on the remus back boxes with me. I'd remove the kit, take some pics and stick it all up on the buy/sell folder. CSLs are always popular and will sell refurbed or as is.

All of that should be easy to sell.

CSL's seem to be making about £1,200-£1,500 a set.

Is it the BMW strut brace? If so I'd be interested depending on the price.

Brakes and suspension should be easy to sell, the only thing I don't know about is the exhaust. Check out the BMW spare parts classifieds on Pistonheads to get an idea.

I would work out what prices you want, photograph and put on the Forum. As you can see you already have two potential customers.

pics of all would be good. just to guage condition etc etc.

prices that you are looking for also?

You could very easily sell the whole lot. Modded cars dont generally fetch for better prices than similar aged/specced stock cars anyway. In some cases they might even go for less. My opinion.

They make this money subject to their condition though.

I'm sure you'd sell this stuff providing your prices are realistic. We've seen a couple of folk try to sell stuff at higher prices and not sell.

I bought my strut brace used off this very forum. Looked brand new when I took it out of the packaging. Some items just don't get much wear.

Oh, and I hate to say it, just be careful. We've had a couple people get ripped off (things not paid for ) on here. Just an FYI

If the M3 deal comes off I have a decision to make.

Use the car in Part Exchange and sell the Original parts plus strut brace and rear CSL's or return the car to standard then sell the parts.

I'm no mechanic so I will get Simpsons to do the work - but I'm guessing there will be at least a days labour involved plus the hassle and time. If I chose to sell the components the prices will be realistic but will have to at least cover my time.

Thank you for all your PM's and offers and input.

I will keep quiet on the matter until I make a decision and then put together a comprehensive advert if I chose the mod selloff option.

Of course there is!

Top of my head, I'd be surprised if you didn't get £3k for that lot on the used market, more likely nearer £4k...

Rough guess figures:

£1500 for the wheels (£1000-1200 for a set, £300-500 for the rears only?)
£1000-1500 for the AP brakes depending on overall condition of calipers, pads, discs...
£600 for the Nitrons (not sure what you paid new, but that can't be a bad price!)
£100 for Strut Brace?
£200-300 for exhaust?

I'd certainly be interested in some of the items. Being cheeky, could I ask how much all those mods increased your insurance premium? If you don't want to give an absoloute number, a % is just as good.

Hello tere,
I would be intrested in the AP brakes if you decide to sell! Out of intrest what colour are the calipers red or black?
Regards,

Jamie
