Used 35is availability

Can't take the roof of an M135i either....
I don't see the comparison myself either, completely different cars apart from they have a kidney grill.

This has got me thinking, they are going to do a M235i coupe, so one would hope that there will be a M235i convertible, so how are they going to price it against the 35is

Well, if it's just power you're after then fine, the M135i is a bargain next to a Z. But the OP is after a Z first and foremost so the comparison isn't too useful.

Fortunately there are always people out there who will pay top dollar for the full spec top of the range... So there will be some eventually, just gotta keep looking

I like the look of this in comparison to the M135i.

Apart from bang for buck and much better all rounder than the Zed, probably one of the best models BMW have brought out for some time and more useable than the 1M.

It's just down to if you want the fancy roof or not.

Tim.

Agree Tim  it's a performance bargain the M135i...I feel it's just a shame it looks like a dogs dinner but I really like what it offers as a performance car. :)

I think the 35iS will become a appreciating asset in the next few years, not that many produced and quite a quick car :driving:

Still not sure this helps the OP at all - he wants a Z. The M135i may be one of the best models BMW have brought out for some time (can't comment, not looked), but the driving position, experience and feel of a Z are all completely different to a 4 seat saloon car. I assume the OP is sold on a Z because of all these things, plus maybe the roof, plus maybe other aspects of the car. It's not an unreasonable debate to have, but irrelevant on this thread ?

I personally can't comment on the one series. Never really looked at them properly, not a car that interests me.
My rate of appeal for the onner is the same as Type R or Clio. They may be quick but not something i would want to own.
Like I said earlier I wouldn't compare a Zed (whatever version) with them.
The 35is just happens to be the very fast version of an already fantastic fast car. Maybe one reason it doesn't wear the M badge is that it doesn't need too.

Hi there, I was looking for a 35is myself, but BMW had literally nothing in their stock list nationwide with a half decent spec, so I went for a 35i instead. The adaptive suspension, noisier exhaust and 30bhp (and the other cosmetic parts) didn't warrant the additional cost for me. You certainly have more to choose from if you look for a 35i. The best option at the moment if you really must have a 35is is to wait for a used one to appear or take the plunge and buy brand new.

If you want a manual car, 35i is your only option too.. If you want the DCT then 35i and 35is are more than fast enough for most uses, 35is has the edge of course and likely a better choice for tracking.

Ive noticed two 35is on the bmw auc site. Both are quite high spec priced just under 32k. One is 2011 with 17k miles and the other a 2010 model with 20k miles.

I have driven the M135i and obviously have the 35is, there really isnt much of a comparison to make, they are completely different cars.

The 135 is indeed rapid, it is fractionally slower than the 35is but feels much slower due to the lack of noise, wind, seating position etc

As a stand alone car its fantastic and there is nothing on the market that comes close in terms of bang for buck. But there is no way in hell i would swap my 35is for one!

Also the 8 speed auto is not as good as the DCT

As an aside i now feel very lucky to have found my car i had no idea so few had been registered and it just appeared when i was looking for one, in the exact colour and spec (well actually higher spec) that i was after. With 6k on the clock and 1 owner for less than the cost of a basic M135i as well! pretty happy with that! :D

there are 2 listed on the bmw approved used site, but (rather pleasingly) both a lower spec, older and with nearly double mileage than mine... and i paid significantly less than both are listed for! (though granted i bought mine in October, so pretty much bottom of the market!)

This tread has made me very happy today! :D

The blue one is 35i and not 35is. They don't do manual 35is.
