Usb2 location?

Only me :)

Sorry to keep bothering you but does anyone know the location of the second usb input? My radio shows two usb inputs on the display (non-idrive) but I can only find the one in the armrest.

I tried a phone cradle at the dealership to see if that was the second usb input but it didn't seem to be the case.

You won't see it if you are sat in the driver's seat :)

Open the passenger door & get your head down so you can look straight into the glovebox, the USB port is at the top right hand side. Very well hidden!

I've not stuck my head in just open up from the passenger side and have had a feel about. I'll need to get on the deck to see it. Jings!

You can see it if you open the drivers door and just stoop down a bit. It's in a good place really as when you have a USB stick in it it's right out the way and won't get knocked around if you're messing in the glovebox.

Not a Z but on our X1 same issue USB1 was in dash but no sign of USB2,Dealer also flummuxed
Then when the iPhone 5 cradle finally appeared and inserted ( with enhanced Bluetooth specd ) low and behold USB2 and it was the iPhone plugged in with full control over the system
ps no iDrive either
 
I found it. Reason I couldn't see it was some tool had put a black USB stick in it already. Came from the dealers like that. Plugged in my USB but didn't seem to pick it up but does if I use via the armrest one. Didn't have time to fanny about as I had to be the otherside of Scotland for 2pm but I'll fanny about tomorrow.
 
Does anyone know which option I would have had to have ordered to get this second USB port? The only thing I think I'm missing is iDrive but I'm not sure why the second USB port is missing as well. I tried the iphone cradle and there was no additional input (nor audio input from the phone)
 
I think the purpose of the second USB connection is for transferring data directly to the hard drive in the media system (ie the iDrive).

You use it for NAV updates, and bulk music transfers to the spare area of the HDD.

I would assume if you have not got iDrive, then you will not have this extra USB connection point either (just a guess).

This must be why when I transferred data, thinking it came from my USB I ended up with audiobooks and couldn't figure out where they had come from. When I read the prev comments it all made sense
