Has anyone or anyone know if its possible to retro fit the usb socket in the 2009 z4,

I don't believe it is, although I'm not totally convinced that the service guy was confident in his answer.

I was looking to add one to my e89 and initially I was told that it would be possible and would cost approx. £1200 but then he went to check with the service manager where they agreed that the info supplied by BMW was incorrect and it couldn't be done to my vehicle.

Would be interested to hear from anyone else who may have better information.

Reason i ask, is when i went to look at car last week, the only thing that the card didnt have that i wanted was a usb slot, dealer said thats no problem, we can fit one for you for £250.
He then phoned up yesterday to say they out of stock on them, so will take about a month for it to come through from Bmw. I'm picking car up Wednesday, i dont really want a car without usb.

if it was an option on the car you're buying, then it can be retrofitted.
If it was only available on later models, then it should be retrofittable, but you'll probably need a lot of stuff.

if it was only available on the new shape ,rather than the original, and you're buying an original, I'd be suprised if it was possible :/

Is it the one under the arm rest you are after which was an option on mine I didn't go for. I thought the one in the glove box was on all cars, by using it I have downloaded all my music to the hard drive so no real need for the other USB.

The other USB under the arm rest is also used to connect an iPod so you can control it through the steering wheel and menu system on the Nav screen.

Forgot the hard drive is part of the Nav. I put in a Ipod control head unit in my last car but with the hard drive in the Z the Ipod is bi redundant.

i not got the Sat Nav, so not got usb in glove box,
was looking at the denilson gateway 300, if they cant retrofit the usb in armrest

Looking at the BMW UK site, the USB is listed in the accessories section, so it should be possible to fit it.
