USB plugs in permanent live car sockets

The USB charger plug has a green LED on it (I assume it is LED anyway ...), but as the socket in the car is permanently live - do I risk draining the battery with this plugged in?

Always wondered this myself. I can't imagine it would ever be a problem as an LED is very minimal draw, probably less so than the flashing light used for the alarm system.

I had my cig to usb socket left in my Z for 2 weeks with its little red led on and my battery was fine.

A typical PCB-mounted LED takes 20mA @ 2v so would only draw 0.04 watts which is roughly 1HP (that's one Hamster Power) but, to avoid any accusations of cruelty, I feel I should make it clear that it's the power generated by a hamster running in a wheel, not by the decidedly inhumane alternative of sticking zinc and copper electrodes in opposite ends of the hamster

1 hamster power

I have a charger for my blackberry with a red led plugged into the cig lighter in my car for most of the week - parked, overnight etc. - and I've never had any issues.

But the Z goes off though?

Thats what i had seen quoted on here lots of times.. that after 15 minutes it goes to deep sleep... but mine never sleeps!

when i first got my car i left my road angel plugged in all the time.. one night after a good few days i saw the little blue glow coming from the driveway and realised it was always on.
