USB audio interface retrofit...ouch!

I popped into the dealer last week to book in some little niggling warranty work and wondered over to the parts desk to ask how much to retrofit the USB audio interface into my z4. (It already has sat nav/bluetooth). I hoped i could stream audio via bluetooth A2DP but i dont think you can?

They wanted £600+ just for the parts  They would have to check on the labour cost on the install but im guessing it will be an hour or 2 so another £200+.

Been looking on realoem to try and figure what parts are needed and see if i can source from ebay but i cant really figure what retrofit kit i need

give Jamie @ Soper Lincoln a call and as he has dealt with the forum alot, he will be able to tell you exactly what you need :) he is a very very good guy

Odd that a car with navigation would omit this, but then mine is missing PDC which I think most people would add. Why not just use the USB socket in the glovebox and upload your music to the car? Much easier and quicker than having a USB stick or iPod in the armrest (I have both because I'm greedy).

Greed is good

Yer i have uploaded music via the glovebox but most my music is on my ipod and there is like 30gb of that.

I kinda know it would be expensive but not THAT expensive.

O well, still hunting for a wind deflector on the cheap :)

my hire car at the moment has a usb port lol. it a smallest basic thing on the road for £600 you could buy it lol.

Get a new ipod and use it as the reomte £300

That's just ridiculous, however if you have 30 Gig hard drive with the sat nav system I am sure it would be preferable to use that. I have the USB interface, however it didn't seem to work brilliantly with the iPod it would not play random, well it would play the same 10 tracks randomly, dealer could repeat it but were mystified why. In the end I converted all my songs to MP3 and stuck them on a USB stick and that works a treat.

How about burning a cd like 2006 technology.

BMW need to become real, and minimum now would be usb, sd card slot and BT for free. even wifi link
