have any of you guys fitted a USB chip adaptor, my 320 has one in the arm rest so I just stick my chip in with 400 tunes on it and off I go, but my Z has a CD autochanger, I have seen cables which plug into the audio adaptor in the ashtray but what would you guys recommend?

I've not done it with usb but recently retrofitted an aux jack input and it's a dawdle

TBH I fitted that box to keep the factory headunit but if I was doing it again I'd swap the headunit out for an aftermarket one with dab and Bluetooth.... only reason ive not done that on this Zed is the nav screen.

I fitted a Dension unit in the glovebox and am very happy with it, although it is a steep learning curve trying to figure out all of the play modes, searching, etc.
You get ID3 tags so can see the track name/artist on the sat nav screen. I ran a USB extn cable from the glovebox to the same panel as the Aux input, and use a mini USB stick (16GB) for music.

I just binned the triangle mounting piece and mounted the socket to the aux panel, since it comes out so easy. Spent what felt like an eternity measuring, measuring, and measuring again, then drilling small holes getting bigger and bigger until it was just the right size to mount the socket so it wouldn't fall out. I really like the look as it is 'stealthy' enough to not be seen by unwanted eyes, but I can easily remove the USB memory stick to add/remove music as I want. It also balances the aux socket on the right of the panel :wink:

Yes, it's plugged into the back of the head unit. Fairly easy. Remove the air vents (many many threads on how to do this, but you just need a tool to prise the two clips open so you can slide the vents out), unscrew the stereo, slide it forward, unplug the harness, and so on (instructions that come with it are good). Put it back together in the reverse order and you're away. I used some extra strong velcro to attach it inside the glovebox and fed a USB extension cable to the aux panel (which just pops out very easily) where I mounted the flush mount socket. The Dension also has a specific iPod connector if you want to use an iPod with it, but you need to pay a bit more for the iPod cable.Artful-Bodger said:

To be honest, the hardest thing is figuring out how to operate it. I also needed to load a file to boost the sound level (by 3 or 6dB) as it was much lower than the radio and annoyed me that I had to keep turning up or down the volume depending on whether I was listening to the radio or the Dension. It's good now though. All in all, I'm very happy with it now.
Edit - I just checked the Dension website which has been updated, and it looks like more models are compatible, so perhaps the BT Lite and Pro versions will work as well?
