USA Tail lights

Well I'm not certain, but I do happen to have an American spec 2003 if you want to take a look....I don't think the assembly is difficult to pull out.

I would imagine physically yes the swap would be possible, but as they drive on the right as in Europe the reversing & foglight will be the wrong way round for the UK not to mention any other lighting differences required by the various laws in country, what are you trying to achieve.

The US spec ones don't have a fog light. Reversing lights in both tail lights. Don't see why that would make a difference, though, as long as the connectors are the same, the wiring would make one a fog and the other reversing, right?????

that's what i thought. if so, then all i'd have to do is modify it so it has the clear spot light, so when in reverse it's not a red light. I just wanted to confirm this, but now getting mixed answers. :tumbleweed:

Ok, if the US spec is that both lights are clear then fitting a standard lamp to the reversing light & a chrome Red or similar light to the foglight should work as the casing are just that, IIRC there is no wiring or pathway's on the light units themselves.

There is not a wire/current route (silver plate thing) on the light assembly to power the rear foglight bulb on a US spec pre facelift light assembly. I know for me to convert I had to loose a reverse light and have the rear fog light tied to the fronts. Not sure how that would work on UK spec

Smokin, to confirm 100% we are talking about pre-facelift right?

US has never had fog lights on the rear. I defer to Aebous in re: wiring as I've never taken mine apart. I have an 07 Coupe.

ok this is my VERY basic logic for why i think it'll work...

i have a wire from my fog light button to some connector in the back. now the rear light connects to this set of connectors in the back, so it shouldn't "care" were the connections come from. so if i connect a US spec tail light i should get one light come on when turning on my fog lights... right? so from what i can see all i need to do is change the bulb to a red one.

That was my non-auto mechanic ( I do medical research for a living) reasoning as well. There are also red overlays that can be placed over the clear reverse lens. You might also contact Aebous directly and cj10jeeper has probably taken apart more light units than anyone on here.

Spot on.

I think these were the ones I used when doing my Quad spot conversion.
