Space Shuttle "Endeavor" was successfully launched moments ago, to be in space for one week. Settling in at 15K mph, gives a whole new meaning to the term fast. Everyone please keep the crew in prayers for a safe return!

I have actually seen two of the shuttles go up and three Apollo's. I have always wanted to go to see the shuttle land at Edwards AFB, however you do not get much notice when they land out here. The double sonic boom is unmistakable.

IMZ4N: Thanks for responding! I am very proud to be from the USA. I've never witnessed a live launch, but it is a goal of mine before I die.

Maybe it could work out to get the area Z's to get together for a drive to see one of the last few shuttle launches! I would be down for that. Though I am very aware that the launches are only about 40% on schedule.

But there are only going to be a few more launches before the shuttle fleet gets retired! :(

But who was the most drunk out of the astronoauts!

My guess is the one contemplating wearing diapers while driving cross contry to commit a murder.

Congratulations on the successful launch, it's amazing how we take it for granted these days. A shuttle launch hardly makes the news in the UK anymore.

I see that one of the astronauts used to be a teacher and was a backup crew member for Christa McAuliffe on Challenger in 1986. Great courage and determination to finally get into space.

I made a little tribute.......
