US used car prices up 25%

It’s the same all over, due to the scarcity of chips and the delays in new car deliveries, going to be a while before things return to normal.

Some mainstream dealers are saying for a new vehicle order placed now to expect delivery after March next year.

Ordered a new car last month, delivery ETA of April

Was a good time to order, still £4.5k discount and fully electric. Could have done with that now with that petrol issue …

Will be interesting to see how the electric car market will fare with the current looming energy crises plus how little spare grid capacity this country has at peak demand times. Looks like it will be a choice between charging the motor or putting the kettle on

Think the law will be that at home you can only charge at night. I have economy 7 so that is the plan anyway

:o Blimey I didn't realise such draconian measures were afoot to drive a car

A great incentive for electric car ownership

Soon there will be a shortage of electricity if people keep buying EV's

PS Never been a petrol issue around these parts :)

But what will happen when ALL EV's including the commercial stuff all plug in at night? Demand goes up and market forces will drive the prices up. They are using gas to supplement the generation of electricity now and I believe they have even fired up a coal fired power station to boost supply.

If only there was a solution such as having our own new gas supply that we could tap into. Something along the lines of what the USA have. I think they call it Shale gas and Fracking :headbang:
