Us and our first cars down memory lane.

not bad for a first car JE....insurance must have been pretty hefty?

My first was a 1.2 Renault Clio MTV edition  , not sure I have any photos.

35 years later & I still trust her with it. :o  :D

Posted in another thread, mine was a Ford Fiesta 1.1 Popular Plus back in '89. And insurance wasn't too bad back then either, aged 18 paid about £200 TPFT. :D

Only had my first car for 3 months before switching it for a Opel Manta Sr , guess looking back the signs were there at 18
Remember it was £1150 & insurance was £300 :driving:

Mine was a 2 door MK1 escort 1.3. XPF 293N

I sold it after a few weeks and bought UVM 740S a black 1600 sport Mk 2 Escort.

Can't remember insurance costs for them cars but I remember insuring my Mk 2 RS2000 when I was 21 and it was £770!! I had been banned once by then though :(

Hi Jonny, great first car. However, memory lane looks a little hazy. It was Atlanta Blue and they were 1.8/1.9 not 2.0.

I had one of the very early 2.8s. I absolutely loved it. They were pretty special.

Mk2 Red escort-didn't even have a carpet-just a rubber floor cover!-I had to stick a rear screen heater element to it!

Haven't got a photo but I can say my first car was a 1961 Minivan with the reg DOG 756 cost me the princely sum of £75 - I was 18 at the time - saw quite a bit of action in the back

So skint in those days - used to borrow my mate's wheels/tyres ( he also had a mini ) at MOT time - fourth gear used to pop out so had to drive with my leg hooked round the gear stick to keep it in gear !

Petrol was about 5 bob a gallon - you could buy a quids worth and it would last you all week if you didn't go mad !

H - reg (1970) hillman avenger 1248cc cost my dad £25.00 in 1980 when I was 17 :D
I spent a fortune on it putting in a roll cage, big wheels and tyres, bucket seats and of course Cibie spotlamps....and at the end of the day it drove like sh*t
Sure I've got a picture somewhere

My first car was a 2005 Peugeot 407 SW (Estate) in Met Blue. 1.6 Diesel. Ridiculously sensible.

Not sure I have any pictures of it, but when I got kicked out of London I decided to treat myself and buy a "proper" car as insurance quotes halved the minute you left the M25!

My first car was a B reg Fiesta Popular + Mk2 - the + made all the difference as it was a 1117cc engine not the 957cc. This was in 1992 and most people only had Mk1's - I only the Mk2 as it was a family car and I got it at the PX price.

I'd buy it back now (despite the rust it had then) but know it has long gone....never seen another identical (it had some rather funky wheel covers.....

I've had about another 35 cars since then and not many others I'd want back (maybe the 997TT cab!)
