Would your Mom not have kept any record of the sale, who to etc. Surely there will be something in her transaction history as to where the money came from?

I doubt it was a literal cash sale in 2016.

I suppose you could make an offer to the current owner, but you could end up paying quite a premium for it. Might be best to leave your details with them for first refusal on the sale. Then it puts no pressure on them.

I don’t think I would want previous owners being too pushy, but they could make an offer now, and ask for first refusal on sale for sure. It gives the advantage to the seller, so wouldn't be unwelcome.

I get the sentimental factor, but you are essentially trying to track someone down who may not take kindly to you doing so.



If a previous owner of one of my cars turned up on my doorstep I'd be inclined to call the police..

Really? How strange I would be flattered.

Maybe I'm just cynical... Id be concerned that someone is able to track me down like that.

If she took the payment electronically the bank will have records. You sometimes have to go in and ask if they are historic.

Unfortunately we live in a world where suspicion is the first thought (and rightly so). However i dont think the OP will find a name or address but posting on social media and forums. More likely the person with the car will see the request and chose to respond, i suspect that if the person is not comfortable with this situation then they just will not respond to any posts.

If i was the said person and saw the advert i would contact the OP and have the chat. Even if i didnt want to sell i would certainly keep him in mind if i ever did.

Good luck in your search, i just hope someone does not try to rip you off if you do find it.
