I'm in a town called Nurnberg by the way....off autobahn 3....also the only and thing about driving very very fast in when people pull out into the fast lane. I have had at least 4 occasions to pull hard on the brakes from 140-150. Takes a lot of concentration too!!
Another observation. I would say 75% of the cars for sale on the forecourt, even most of the new 5 series, don't have leather!!
And none of the fancy cars with the big wheels have locking wheel nuts! I also saw a guy who obviously worked there, unlock the worskshop, and had a few of his mates in there with their cars!!!
Turned the hire car down, and to be honest just want to get home now....I've cancelled all my hotels, so it's home from here. If its not fixed tomorrow I will fly home and they will send my car back in about 2 weeks after its fixed, or they will fly me out to pick it up......I would rather just wait for it to get hme as opposed to make this trip again....
600 miles in 8 hours was pretty tough going......and not sure I would want to do it again...
I was surprised that nothing overtook me today. I was expecting to see something come flying past at 200 mph.....
TBH the de restrictions kick in and out on the autobahn at weird times, sometimes you are flying at 150, then you slow to 80 for a few 100 metres and then back up again....let's of ups and down on the speed....
Makes me realise how bad our roads are....Belgium's roads are super smooth too....
It has become slower over the years due to the fuel costs. Driving back on our last German trip not a single car overtook me, an X6M was the only one who tried
Thanks for all your comments and words of encouragement....I'll know today what the score is and go from there. If I have to stay another night in this piss pot hotel, I'll do a Whitney believe me......
