Urgent help smart top

Tried to install a smart top today. As per the instruction I halted the roof opening process mid way through.
Once installed nothing happened. I then removed the smart top and returned everything to normal.
Unfortunately the roof will neither close or open!! I'm now stuck with a roof etc in the mid way position.

I have checked all the pins etc and everything seems fine.

Any suggestions???

Did you completely move the clip on the connector all the way open, dont just pull it back enough to disconnect it, you need to move it as far as it will go and then connect it to the ST/original unit. fingers crossed.

I'd suggest its the connector seating clip. Its caught a few people out. The clip that swings back and forth on the connector must be fully up when inserting the cable connector and then slid down to clip the connector in place. Ensure the clip is fully up before pushing the connector in otherwise the pins will not connect and hence no roof movement.

Panic over. I disconnected the battery in an effort to let the car reset itself. After plugging the power back in I got a warning message to say the boot was open. I think I must have leaned on the key and opened the boot lid. As the boot was in the half open position I could not see them .

I leaned on the boot lid and it locked itself and it all works.

Thank god for that!

As a side issue, during my trouble shooting I checked the fuses. What a sod they are to reach!!

Don't you just hate those panic moments !!!

Where did you buy the unit from - a UK supplier?

I do Ronk. For a minute I thought I thought I was going to have to ring BMW to come and collect it to fix it!

I go it from mods4cars with free next day delivery by Fedex.

I had one of those wibble wibble moments when I did a bid on ebay - It was supposed to be £49.50 but I confirmed my bid a £4950 -
