My car is making a high pitch continuos beep. Its parked on my drive and approx every 30 seconds this beep starts, it lasts for about 30 seconds. it does this 3 times in a row, then beeps quickly 4 or 5 times and stops for about 5 mins, then starts again. It doesn't matter if the car is locked or unlocked if the engine is running or not. It not very loud but it'll be enough to annoy the neighbours. The sound is coming from the rear bumper on the drivers side (uk) any ideas please
 
The reversing sensors are working ok. Does anyone know if there is siren for the alarm? the hand book says depending what region your in an acoustic alarm will sound for 30 seconds, which is whats happening although the indicators are not flashing. I have never heard the alarm and if it is that its not very loud (it certainly wouldn't wake you at night)
 
Try locking with the key in the door rather than the remote, which won't activate the alarm, see if that makes any difference?
 
My 3.0 makes quite a high pitched beeping, the siren module is behind the rear bumper, do you know if it has a battery back up? it may be failing and causing a voltage drop, and it is triggering the alarm?
 
Thanks, I think it must be the alarm, the so called siren noise ( I can fart louder than that) is coming from the rear bumper. The alarm is deactivated as the car is unlocked and still the siren is sounding. Do these cars have a battery back up?

It's the alarm. Open the bonnet and on the centre of the bulkhead there is a switch (that the bonnet pushes when closed). Disconnect the switch and enjoy the silence.

This bonnet sense switch has a tendancy to fail. It's a Push To Break variety, so disconnecting it is the same as having the bonnet closed.
I had the same problem with the alarm on my previous Z4. It turned out the car battery was on its last legs and a voltage drop (sufficient to trigger the alarm) occured after the engine had been shut down.
 
Thanks Nick, I will try in the morning when it's light, this seems a very common problem. I've just been out and removed the fuse for the alarm, so at least it wont keep going off all night.
 
Checked the bonnet switch this morning, disconnected it, plugged back in the alarm fuse and the siren went off. I am gonna check the battery Monday as I wonder if it could be as previously mentioned a voltage drop. The car still starts ok and every thing seems fine, but the little green sopt in the battery check window is a lot duller than normal.
 
My alarm is making beeping noises too. after i lock it sometimes it will start beeping for about 30 seconds then stop, and it can start again at any random time (usually at night tho). I have a new battery so it cant be that, i might have to try the bonnet switch. is there any other areas on the alarm that are likely to fail?
