Hi Folks, wondering if anyone can help.

Picked up a nail in one of my rears yesterday, because it made two holes it is not repairable.

Due to me being skint i really cant afford £200 for a new one so was wondering if anyone who has upgraded to non-RFL's might have a used one going spare for a fair sum? Ideally if you're not too far away from York.

Size is: 255 35 R18

My only alternative is to buy a pair of non-RFL's myself for the rear and try and recoup a bit of cash selling the remaining tyre (which has loads of tread) that might see me sorted for around the £150 mark if i'm lucky which might be easier to stomach!

Assume having one non-RFL is a nono?

Many, many, many thanks

Tom

p.s.i know technically this should be in the buy and sell section but that would take too long!

Or should i trust the repair on this?

I wouldnt, you dont know how long it was run flat for starters.

I would not touch a tyre that has been punctured, as SR says run for an unknown length of time, repaired how exactly and to top it all an unknown driver history.

You gotta either go trusted source for a single tyre or in reality swap all 4 for your safety on a performance car. We are not talking 60mph shopping car here....

I would have kept my rears but I had no room in the car to take them with me. Had about 2-3mm on both of them... :(

You *could* maybe just try ring Motorsport Wheels, at Coal Road Leeds, and pretend you are me and got your tyres fitted the other week, see if they still have them... if they did I'd happily pick one up for you and bring it over.

Worth a try?!

Knew I should have kept one just incase :headbang:

Cheers Dave that would have been kind of you

The more i think about it maybe it would be better to have 2 skiney new Falken 452's while i'm at it.

How much were yours if you dont mind me asking? Camskill can have a pair of them at my door for £202 so if i can get £50 back for my remaining runflat then £150 or therabouts wont be worth losing sleep over.

2 of 2553518YFALKR94XL.FK452[2] FALKEN TYRES / CAR / FALKEN FK452 FALKEN FK 452 - 255/35R18 94Y XL TL Total Price £197.60

Fitting was £80 though (£20 a piece), but my brother and I are just about to invest in a tyre machine because (though I didn't care much) the fitter did nick one of the badly reconned outer rim parts of one of my 108's... had they been my new 107's or reconned 108's I'd have been gutted.
Just leaves £5 balancing but they can't really get that too wrong!

I'd just get a £15 tin of Holts largest (500ml!?) tyre weld to cover yourself, or/and maybe longer term also think about a half decent compressor (RAC600 for £20 delivered seems good), and some BMW tyre sealant (£7 ish delivered off eBay maybe)

Dave

Yikes £80 for about 20 minutes work?!

My local place can usually price match so perhaps if i buy from them they might be cheaper to fit them.

Mine just asks for £20 cash to put tyres I've supplied on - although they used to get that £20 every week when I was doing trackdays on part-worns from ebay!
