Hi all, can't search as I have reallys poor signal. How do disable the alarm or just lock the car without the alarm? I'm on a camp site and apparently it's been going off all day. Can't see any spiders etc in the cabin but I did go thought torrential rain all morning so wondered if it was a sensor under the bonet

Not sure that you can disarm the alarm with the car locked, but you can "Avoiding unintentional alarms" from the interior motion sensor "

"The tilt alarm sensor and interior motion sensor can be deactivated at the same time. You can do this to prevent a false alarm from being triggered, for instance in garages with elevator ramps or when the vehicle is transported by train."
"Lock the vehicle twice = arm the system:"
"Press the button on the remote control"
"twice in succession,"
"or"
"lock the vehicle twice with the key."

Is the bonnet one the usual culprit referred to? Ive never heard the alarm go off before until today

Yes- they are well known to fail. Try unplugging yours and see if its a cure.

My alarm was playing up as you describe. For now you can just lock the car using the key in the lock and the alarm won't arm.

The bonnet sensor was £11 a year ago, 2 mins to fit and no alarm problems since.

Cold nights & warm days did it with my coupe , , a lot of metal to expand & contract on the bonnet & doesn't take much movement on the bonnet sensor

thanks for the help guys its was much appreciated especially as some guy was apparently threatening to slash the roof.....

disconnected that sensor (best get a new one) and tried the key double lock thing and it seemed to shut up.

there was no chance of any contraction on sunday morning .... i think a canoe would have been more appropriate on the m56/m6! :D

I feel your pain.

This weekend my alarm was continually going off. Bonnet sensor was already unplugged and the car was locked with the key and not the button.
But the alarm kept activating. Since the alarm continued to sound I decided not to lock car (Keep the neighbours happy).

But later in the day the alarm went off again !!!

Pressing the unlock button didn’t help, Starting the car didn’t stop the alarm and even disconnecting the battery didn’t stop the alarm sounding. Eventually it just stopped on its own.

I checked the battery voltage on the OCD and that was ok (Can’t remember what it was) but decided to take the car for an hour’s drive to see if that would help (Help me keep the car if nothing else)

But several hours later the alarm sounds again, again the car is unlocked. And again the sound will not stop. I ended up having to pull the fuse for the central locking system (Which I read also controlled the alarm)

Car is now booked in with my local BMW dealer so I am at a complete loss.
