Uprating front and rear lights

Hi Gents (and ladies)

I am new to the forum and therefore after some newbie information. I have being looking at getting a Z4 for a few months now, a post 2006, because I like the facelift lights. However other than the problem of sourcing them, is it possible to uprate a Pre 2006 model with the OE post 2006 lights? I would imagine the front clear headlights should be a simple swap? The rear lights look a totally different set up, but through a little loom modifictaion and bulb holders that go with the 2006 clusters I would of thought it possible, but most importantly of all, will they fit?

hi and welcome!

The halogens fronts are a straight swap, however the xenons are not; require coding; and the lights alone are stupidly expensive..... a few here have cut open their lights and modded the pre with amber to have clears from a donor set.

Rear lights also require recoding and wiring.. and they are a different shape! so you would need to mod the rear bumper or get a facelift rear bumper.

So fronts are a likely possibility, rears are looking like a potential ball ache with new bumper then maybe respray if it is not a perfect match..... needless to say alot of effort. Has anyone documented how they have modded the front pre lights? A guide would be much appreciated..
