Uploading a website

Is there anyone who could help me to upload a website and perhaps make a few changes to wording on it?

I had a website built by someone, then recently changed providers from the US to UK and now have to reload it to the new servers. I now have a new domain all operational with all the passwords etc. but frankly not a clue how to edit the files I have, then upload the website backups.

Happy to cover reasonable costs for someone.

Cheers

To edit the web site/pages let me suggest this which is free:

http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/

This is in addition to other features an excellent HTML editor. There are version for both Windows and Linux.

Once downloaded and installed select window/compose and open the html file you want to edit. Actually a very easy editor to use even if you are not real experienced with HTML.

There are also tools for uploading included but I usually do most uploading with FileZilla when working in windows.
See http://filezilla-project.org/ (Also Free)

If you need any additional help with these programs let me know.

Cheers WLH - I have filezilla installed already and will pull down seamonkey and see if I can make any sense of it

I cannot thanks Street enough for his help. He has taken my website sorted a few items out on it, made a few upgrades and loaded it up. Real top guy

WLH - I did download Seamonkey and it's a cool programme. Trouble is my website had been built in such a way that if you touched any single image, box, etc. the page fell to bits into a jumble building blocks. Street overcame that hurdles for me.

Not looking to spam anyone here, but as well as providing hosting for the forum I do provide hosting to 3rd parties also, at very reasonable prices. If any members are looking for hosting or are unhappy with their current provider, drop me a PM.

Just out of interest, what do you do Street?

I'm currently working on some pretty big databases for Mr Brown.
I've been in IT for some time now and have built quite a large set of skills and experiences generally in the finance and utility sectors.

I'm seriously looking to move away from the corporate 9-5 and go it alone at the moment..
If anyone needs any web design or advice to go with sp3ctre's web hosting.. give me a shout :D

I've always wondered what everyone else on here does..

Pretty handy to know, I may take you and sp3ctre up on those offers in the future. Although I'd only typicaly need a website when looking for a new job, not something I'll be doing soon (I hope)

Looks like a thread revival is needed

gotta love the community. A need was stated and filled, friends made and new knowledge gained!
