Upgrading plain jane model 2.0L (Help Please)

Hey Guys after owning my Z4 for the last 18 months, I am finally going to upgrade her. I have gotten a official Bmw leather gear knob, leather Steering wheel, leather gaiter and going to wrap the plastic silver parts in black brushed aluminum. Leather seats are currently at stupid prices on ebay so I will have to wait for the summer and maybe I will get lucky.

I will also upgrade the exhaust box to something abit more fruity but not anything stupid as I want the car to look original as possible.

I need help regarding upgrading the bog standard 16 wheels as I have zero experience with changing them. I have checked online and it kind of confused me abit, so any basic advice would be great.

Thanks as always folks.

Have a chat to Mr Wilks mate regarding wheels, what he doesnt know about z4 wheels isnt worth knowing.

Get a nice set of 18inch wheels on along with a set of sport springs :)

Agree on 18 inch wheels for good mix of comfort and aesthetics. Lots to play with but a quick search on here under the phrase 'wheel options' might also help you out. Then stick some decent rubber on the new wheels (EG Goodyear F1s).

Springs I think most people opt for Eibachs on here as a standard upgrade.

For the exhaust, you simply need a fruitier back box so I'd be looking into H&S/Rogue etc.

18" would be my choice, and sit well on standard springs too! Any bigger and you will lose some ride quality and might need to think about lowering springs to stop it looking too high. As above, Mr Wilks on here is a good call as he is pretty handy at sourcing and getting nice wheels refurbed with tyres! Cold be worth a message if you're after BMW wheels rather than aftermarket ..

or Talk to MM (machine monkey) and see if he can work his magic on your existing back box box :D

I was thinking about the MV2 alloys as they seem easy to get your hands on. Do i have to do anything to fit them to my Zed?

Got standard springs and 18 " wheels. Non RFT, the ride and handling is great. The sportier the springs the harsher the ride if Im not mistaken?

Here you go.....

Hi i could possibly help you out a fair bit.....

I have a set of 17" daisy's if you want them. Although you probably do want to go for 18" wheels really for a better look.

I am also planing on changing my seats this year. So if your after a set of the standard black leather seats? Mine will be needing a new home. I also have a spare passengers side one! Bit i might be making that in to an chair for the man cave!!

And the exhaust i can make it a little louder with a few pops and bangs fairly cheaply. Or a full on box off strip out and make it straight through? Obviously thats a lot more work so will cost more.

Be careful with dodgy mv2 reps.

But yes, 18" are a nice compromise for aesthetics to comfort (not that I've driven a car running a smaller wheel, but upgrading to 19" wasn't the best decision with respect to comfort)

MV2's suit the coupe better than the roadster. I would go for something a bit more open. Also makes cleaning easier.

108's are the easiest wheels I've ever had to clean.

And 108s with spacers and a little lowered looks great on a roadster. If your going for BMW wheels and 18" 108s all the way.

Can the money you spend on upgrading not be better served buying a newer zed?

and regarding 108's they look okay on a pre-facelift because of the round lights, but look fugly on a facelift where MV2's better suit and were standard fitting on the MSport

If my car was black then i would want a red roof lol

I am going to pick these up http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=74409 this afternoon and have them refurbished later this year.

Thanks guys for the advice :)

Hey Guys

Just following up. I now have the following parts:
Leather Steering wheel (Non-M as M steering wheels sell for stupid prices)
Leather Hand-brake handle with leather Gaiter
Leather Gear Knob (Non-M again how due to it matching rather than price)
Left-hand cup-holder (Will get the right-hand one later this month)
Interior Dash board (needs to be wrapped)
107 18 inch (Need to refurbished and tyres fitted)
Aux fitted to standard stereo

Parts left to get:
New exhaust back box (I will do after my next MOT)
Center trim console (two on ebay.co.uk)
Leather seats (Also a few on ebay.co,uk)

However I am have troubles with Vinyl wrapping corners on some interior trim which I got from eBay. I’m using a hair dryer to make it softer but I then get creases and then afterwards it doesn’t want to stick at the edges. The wrap is like black brushed aluminum which I think we look amazing.

Could anyone from the Surrey/Woking area help me out as I seem to be useless with doing it, I am willing to pay in beer.

Thanks guys as always
